Starlight Society Launched at Vivace

starlight_society_logo_3_copy_resize.jpgOn March 3, a group of young professionals interested in supporting Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH) gathered at Vivace Restaurant in Charlotte to celebrate the launch of the Starlight Society.

More than 100 people turned out for the recruitment event, which generated 50 founding members. Society members pledge $10 a month for two years to fund projects and programs at LCH, as well as promote awareness of volunteer opportunities at the hospital.

In addition to enjoying the food and networking opportunities, event participants were welcomed by Michael Rose, president of Carolinas HealthCare Foundation. Julie Cobb, mother of a former LCH patient, shared her family’s inspirational story; and Starlight Society Advisory Committee member Matt McLanahan then provided an overview of the group’s mission.

The Starlight Society’s first project involves funding the Center Stage Entertainment Series at LCH. Showcased in the Overcash Atrium at LCH, the series will feature singers, actors, musicians, magicians, story-tellers, and more! Children unable to visit the atrium can watch the performances from their rooms on closed circuit TV.

A special thank you to event sponsors Custom Polymers, the Corners Society, the Bond Network, The Dickson Foundation, Bourgeoisie 3d, Chicago Title Insurance Company, Turq Jewelry, and Special Friends of the Starlight Society for their generous support.
